Poetry Journal: August 2026
We laugh, we cry
We live, we die
We hope, we give up
We wonder if it’s enough
We love, we hate
We all amalgamate
Into families and societies
With friends and enemies
Together, we are one
Everything, we overcome
This is the way we live
We resume to persist
Hearts racing hummingbirds
Rain amongst the daffodils
Nature has a call for every word
Whispering winds amid windmills
Pondering as if part of nature
The grass remains moist
Wandering through my departure
As I listen to the silent noise
Pines, maples, and oaks
Bees, crickets, and frog croaks
Daisies, lilies, and daffodils
I wander through these and still
My indolence has gotten the best of me
I sleep and sleep amid this type of beauty
This is my sanctuary and lullaby
I sleep until I say goodbye
Let me go, let me go
Don’t think of me anymore
Everything you have done to me
I can no longer take this misery
Let me go, let me go
Please, break the chains
Throw away the keys
Starting now
Move on from me
So I can move on from you
Let me go
Move on
Somnolence comes
Indolence appears
Reaching towards December
The winter is eternal
There is mortality
Coffins opened
Sleep, sleep, sleep
Sleep for eternity
Laying down
Counting sheep
Crying with Ophelia
Sleep for eternity
Eternal sleep by insanity
I cannot sing or dance
I don’t like purses and bags
I hate wearing makeup
I hate dresses and skirts
I’m not skinny enough
I’m not pretty enough
I don’t like my hair long
I never want to conform
I don’t want to be somebody else
I want to just be myself
At every darkness ahead
There’s a candle by the bed
Even with pain from the past
None of this will ever last
Wishing and hoping by the well
Ringing and ringing the bell
Soon the dark will go away
We will all be okay
No matter what darkness
We live for the best
Candles in the sky
Wishes begin to fly
Hopes in depth within
Stars brushing my skin
Shining bright at night
Waters waving right
Sighing amid the stars
Candles lighting afar
Never give up hope
No time to mope
Keep on wishing
Not worth risking
